Gusto mo baaaanggg.. sumama? (An Eraserheads Concert Review)

Finally. After being deprived of watching their first concert way back in August because of a mosquito bite.. I finally had a chance to watch probably the most beloved band in Philippine Music history ever live. And it was worth all the wait.

To put it like a mastercard commercial..

A Silver - A access to watch the E-heads concert - 1300 Pesos

All my expenses in transpo, food and all that jazz - 500 Pesos

Watching your favorite band perform for one last time - PRICELESS

Yes, that's what it was.. the experience of watching them perform almost 80% of their songs is priceless and I would never trade it for anything in the world.

Show started at about 8:30 PM with a very good video of the history of the heads, from their humble beginning to them winning in MTV's Video Music Awards (BOGCHI!!) to their break up.

After the countdown from Z to E, the much awaited re-reunion concert of the band started. They opened with the song Magasin and fun started from then on, Markus had his moment with his own version of Wag mo nang itanong and Raymund had his with Alcohol.. the first set ended with the song Torpedo.

The second set opened with them on a lounge-like set as they did acoustic numbers (Which included WISHING WELL!) which eventually led to the piano version of Kailan, with Itchyworm's Jazz Nicholas on Keyboards. The set ended with them singing Overdrive.

Third set started and it was prolly the most emotional set of them all. The Francis M tribute with Superproxy and Kalaidoscope World (And about a hundred thousand people, including me, screaming FRANCIS! FRANCIS! FRANCIS!) and of course, Minsan. A song that.. could be perfect for the band right now. The show WAS supposed to end with Ang Huling El Bimbo (AND THE BURNING PIANO ELY PLAYED WITH) but as soon as before everyone was out, Raymund returned to the stage and the band played three more songs (Ligaya, Sembreak and Toyang) leaving every fan who attended the concert.. WITH A SMILE on their face.

Nostalgia time = Fine Time

What a way to start the week. Yay, I finally got Project64 1.6 to work on my computer. For months, I've been trying to figure out why Project64 (Nintendo 64 emulator) have been posting the same annoying error over and over again. Well, all I needed to do was to check the video configuration of the emulator and voila, it worked. I can't believe how simple the problem was and how stupid I am to let it pass for a few months. That happens when you let disappointment and frustration catch up on you first before looking for a solution. :SM001:

I can't help but smile as soon as I played the games that I grew up to. Super Mario 64.. Legend of Zelda.. Rareware's Banjo Kazooie. God, it almost brought me to tears. :D

SM64 SCREENCAPS!

In other news...

YES! IT'S CONFIRMED!

Yes, it’s confirmed: The Eraserheads are reuniting after many years of being apart, not for good but only for one show slated for Aug. 30 at the CCP Open Grounds.

According to the STAR source, all the original members (photo) are performing — Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and Raimund Marasigan.

This piece of good news should make the Eraserheads fans very happy.

Said to be the ‘greatest Pinoy band,’ the Eraserheads will sing all their hit songs, including Alapaap, Toyang and Ang Huling El Bimbo.

10/23/07: No World For Tomorrow

Coheed fans, mark the date October 23 2007, for in that date a new album will be released by the Progressive four piece band (Read: Not EMO, EMO is for.. uh foget it)Coheed and Cambria. The album is entitled Good Apollo, I'm burning star IV, Volume 2: No World For Tomorrow. Their fourth Studio album and the one that will make up the fourth part of The Armory Wars.

I've got a glimpse of their first single, the song is called The Running Free, it's scheduled to be released tomorrow, August 20 2007, but hey, why bother to wait? I have it on my music section.

What can I say about the song? One word, fantastic. Classic Coheed song, the heavy guitar riffs, combined with fast paced drum beats and Claudio's fantastic voice. Nice song, I suggest you listen to it.

And uh, new bassist Micheal Todd and drummer Chris Pennie will make their respective debuts in this album. And from what I've heard, Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters shared his talent in a song or two in this album.

Another glimpse at the new album, Mother Superior on YouTube

Oh fuck, I can't wait for their new album.

Idle time is blogging time

Alright,I've got to admit, I've been having some rough times lately but hey, that wouldn't keep me from doing the thing I love the most, Writing.

Ever heard of the band Giniling Festival? If you haven't, they've been here for awhile now, Siling Giniling, ring a bell? That was the title of their first single which was released maybe a year or two ago. Last night, I finally heard some cuts from their second album, and my observation? Are they trying to sound like System of a down or what?

How can I tell? The continuous drum beats, the Serj and Daron-esque blending and the Fast-Slow-Fast-Slow pace combo made me tell that they're trying to sound like SOAD.

Well, you can listen to some of their songs in the second album here.

Let's jump to another topic, since the month of August is my birth month, Why not make this month a special month for blogging? Yeah here's my blog syllabus for the month.

Three Random Thoughts: I already made one, part 9 will be two weeks from now after the prelims and part 10 will be exactly on my birthday. Huyeah!

One article per week for hoops: I have to be active in hoops this month, I don't know, the progress of that site is a bit slow after the FIBA-Asia competition, I need to come up with ideas. Smart ideas.

Two more poems: A Tagalog and an English poem will do, the problem is, where will I get the inspiration to write? Hehe

Atleast a blog update per week: July wasn't a good month for me in terms of writing, this month I'd try to update my blog atleast once or twice a week.

Fill up my Photo Blogging section: I have my digicam so I guess there wouldn't be any reason why not to Photo-Blog, I've been wanting to do it for months, and now, I finally have a chance to do it.

and last but not the least, I'd try to write another album pick of the month article. I miss doing that :D

Well, I have a full month to complete the tasks at hand. So help me God.

Before the gold and glamour have been replaced, another sun soaked season fades away.

First of all, would someone get this song out of my head? It's been in there for like months now and yes, my youngest brother thinks I'm gay because of it. (Sometime soon my dear brother, you'll know about these things)

Oh well, when Dashboard Confessional released their latest album "Dusk and Summer" sometime last year, this song really got my attention. Can someone say cheese? Yes, loads of it.

"I watch you spin around in the highest heels, You are the best one, of the best ones. We all look like we feel

You have stolen my, You have stolen my heart"

Yeah, Pretty cheesy right? And to think that I'm not really a big fan of fan of chessy songs, it's incredible to have this as your last song syndrome. Like what Larry said earlier, "a great song is a great song" and yes, this one's indeed the best emo(?) song that I've heard since their Hands Down single in 2003.

I think DC has this uncanny ability of producing mellow songs that gets stuck in your head.Oh well, who the fuck cares? I'm going to let the music take me away, cherish the song and sing it as long as I can :D

Trying to get myself into a good position for writing again.

For the past few days I've been stuck listening to punk rock groups. Yeah, it all started when me and the gang decided to revive some Ramones classic. Well, It was all good. Nothing beats an old classic when it's revived by a group of young kids(Read: Old Retards, I'm the only "kid" in the group)(Read again: Not EMO) oozing with talent and ego :) It's like a crossroad of the past and modern rock. And when I say modern rock, it's not chicosci nor callafreakinglily because they're not modern rock, they're modern gay morons. I fucking hate them. And to think that I'm going to have to deal with their gay music longer just drives my balls crazy.

Oh yeah, I was blog hopping earlier and I saw an entry from shad0w0lf about Sib (from Solar and Jack TV) joining the MTV VJ hunt. And I have to agree with him, hell, nobody wanted him in Jack TV and I will be the first one to say this, everyone will despise him or MTV should he win that VJ hunt contest.

Back to the punk music topic, Greenday got me writing again. I was somehow relaxed by their music, thus giving me the peace of mind to write again. I so love their old music. Although their latest album (American Idiot, 2004[?]) sucks big time (except for holiday) they'll still fall into my above average band category.

Another band who formerly rocked and now sucks is MCR, Oh my fucking goodness, do they suck or what? I've been a big fan of them ever since their "I gave you my bullets" days and now what? everybody wants to be like them(Read: Miggy from Chicosci), and their uber straight hair and their "My make up is as thick as my dick" look just screams plain gay.

That's it for now, I'm just trying to get my groove back. My brain's been flowing with topics and ideas but somehow I can't turn them into a good entry. I do hope this is a start of an new beginning for me. Like what Dan Wilson said in one of his old songs "Every new beginning comes from somewhere in the beginnings end"

Music Random Thought Number 1: TBS' Fred Mascherino actually looks like Chuck Norris and Andres Nocioni

Hello guys, this is a very special mind speaking article today because Im going to talk about the music scene today. Not the same ol' amusing music articles you'll see from those other people but I'll try to make this one convincing and amusing as much as possible

Music Random Thought Number 1: Taking back sunday's Fred Mascherino actually looks like Chuck Norris and Andres Nocioni.

The first time I saw Taking back sunday on Mtv I noticed this funny guy with his funny blonde hair and his funny beard to go along with his funny voice and his funnier outfit. That guy happens to be Fred Mascherino oh well, I could care less although he looks famillar to me. I think I saw this person either beating up other people in some low class film or an old motorcycle hog getting his money's worth by a prostitute in some low class p40n movie.

Then here comes my uncle, with his goofy smile and goofier voice telling me to watch this film starring his favorite actor Chuck Norris. And I said to myself, this funny guy looks famillar with his funny blonde hair and his funny beard to go along with his funny voice and his funnier outfit. Although he looks a bit old but this guy actually looks like Fred Mascherino of Taking back sunday! That's why he looked like someone I know the first time I saw him on MTV.

Oh wait, Its not over yet. Im not yet contented. I know deep inside that there's something missing in my look alike puzzle. I know that there's still this one guy missing. This could be their third sibling and prolly the youngest one.

So I spent my usual boring sunday afternoon watching my ever favorite Bulls beat the hell out of the Bobcats. I really enjoyed seeing Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich make their way through the Bobcats' defense while the Bobcats cant really find answers on the offensive end. But that's not really the main point of this article because I said at the beggining of this article that this is all about music.

So there I was watching the Bulls-Bobcats game, waiting for my idol to play because he just came from an injury and he's been out for sometime now. Then there he comes, wearing his jersey number 5 to go along with his funny blonde hair and funny beard.. What the?? Andres Nocioni actually looks like Chuck Norris and Fred Mascherino!! So he's the guy to complete the look alike puzzle! You dont believe me ha? You dont believe me? Take a look

Chris' take: This one is probably one of the best opm albums ever made. With their pangmasa-type of lyrics almost everyone can relate to this album. What's nice about this is that they can create pangmasa songs and yet they dont sound baduy. I remember other bands with great begginings then switched to mainstream pangmasa mode and sucked (Ehem ehem 6cyclemind Ehem).

Chris' Rating: a perfect 10/10 hahaha that's a first. :D

Recommended tracks: Theme from noontime show, Buwan, Beer, Akin ka na lang, Love team, Everyone thinks you're crazy, Wala ng pwedeng magmahal sayo and ofcourse Beer Lite, Akin ka na lang necktie version, Buwan Acoustic uso version and Spunky Rigor mix. Anyhoo every single track is a good one.

An Untitled Hidden Track

This is my personal favorite in typecast's new album. I dont know what the title is but heck its a great song. This is the song after Dont take me from me.

As our eyes grow weary
Lips tight of silence
It was a long day
It's time to go to bed

Cause lying next to you
is all that i want tonight
You make me feel secured
I hope i can stop time

So peaceful and silent
I see an angel
Sleeping the night away
Sleeping the night away

As our eyes close slowly
The words are still unspoken
I dont know what else to say
But goodnight.

Ive maid mistakes before.
I promise not to do it again
But let me ask you just one question
Can i lean on your shoulder?

Chrisangelo turns on emo mode with "the long longing" :P

Sometimes i feel like im missing something
Sometimes i feel like i just want to lay down crying
Sometimes i feel like im getting annoyed
I need someone.. someone to fill the void

Im looking for someone.. that's going to complete me
someone who could change my life completely
someone who'll watch me grow old and die
someone who'll be there when i laugh or cry

So when will she come? will she be here tomorrow?
will she finally end my eternal sorrow?
the years of longing for an unknown something
will it finally end tomorrow when the bird sings?

So when the right time comes.. i hope she'll be there
Whether im 70 or 80 the hell should i care
As long as i know that she'll be there someday
But to die without her.. damn no fucking way.
