The Breakdown: The Ultimate 2-Man Q and A forum about basketball

What will happen when two schools of thought combine? One is said to be SYDMAN (aka Drixlazar), The Idea Diarrhea because of his reeking, continuous, overflowing, brownish basketball ideas while the other is the Chrisangelo, the Walking Pornographic Bastard who like many of you, browses the net for everyday girl-on-doberman porn action! (Sydman made this one hahaha)

From the depths of society. two bitchin’ talents merging with a promise to promote the truth to the wide scale audience! Forming the biggest idea that will forever shape the stellar internet-basketball-blogwriting-world into another orbit????

We don’t really hope to achieve anything… but educate you about the basketball world!!! And we're going to do that by giving you guys an unexpert-like opinion to frequently asked questions by basketball fans.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Believe us. We’re serious

Question number 1: Who amongst the lower seeded teams in the NBA playoffs are most likely to pull an upset against their higher seeded opponent?

Drixlazar: hmm... Hindi ko pa masyadong nakikita ang seedings e. Pero it would probably the person fighting Toronto in the first round. I dunno if they'll make 2 but if they become 3 or 4... Cleveland, Washington, Chicago, or any team that's not the Nets or random eighth spot team could derail them.

Chrisangelo: Cleveland and Chicago are currently fighting for the number 2 spot in the east, the loser gets booted out of the number 5 in which the number 5 team will take on the number 4 seed Miami. So I guess whoever takes the number 5 spot will most prolly upstage an upset against the defending champs Miami.

Drixlazar: Hmmm... That could be so but lets remember that Miami has playoff pedigree which is one thing that's lacking for the Cavs. To quote Ztrain, exchanging the words "ginebra" to "miami"... MIAMI!! MIAMI!! hehe

Chrisangelo: Well, I think the Cavs from last year has improved a lot of things this year, and I think should they fall to number 5 they have all the tools to pulloff an upset against Miami.

Question number 2: If you’re going to choose your starting five, who are they?

Drixlazar: (NBA) Steve Nash, Lebron James, Shawn Marion, Elton Brand and Amare Stoudemire (PBA) Willie Miller, Dondon Hontiveros, Gary David, Enrico Villanueva and Rommel Adducul

Chrisangelo: (NBA) Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Andres Nocioni, Dirk Nowitzki and Tim Duncan (PBA) Jayjay Helterbrand, Dondon Hontiveros, Gary David, Danny Seigle and Enrico Villanueva

Question number 3: What are the chances of our National Team to make it to the olympics next year?

Drixlazar: Seriously? We can go to the olympics. but it has to be this year so there's like super pressure for Chot and his kids. Lebanon, Qatar are extra lucky for winning medals at the asian games. Korea is still a darkhorse but something's wrong with their basketball team.

Chrisangelo: I share the same sentiments Syd. Right now, I dont think China needs to play in the qualifying round because if my memory serves me right they're hosting the 2008 olympics and the hosts dont need to go through the qualifying round/s. Now, the only team on their way is lebanon, qatar and korea. And if my memory serves me right pt.2, they've defeated lebanon and qatar in previous games before. Team Korea is now preparing for their nuclear war against the americans that's why they arent too focused on basketball. My last words, team RP will take the asiads.

Question number 4: Current basketball surprises you like?

Drixlazar: Jeck Chia pare. When i was in college i could smell that this guy would make it in the pba. actually, lahat ng starting five ng ateneo at that time. however, he was misused in coke and he unfortunately played for too many practice teams that never picked him for the main roster. at uae, he exploded with 12 points which i think is the second highest output he made in the pba. i sure hope he'll take this chance in getting his share of pba limelight. too bad he'll drift out again as the kings seem too crowded in that spot.

Chrisangelo: The Toronto Raptors, I think they're the only team to pick 1st in the draft and win a division title 10 months later. I even made fun of them during the start of the season. They currently have the best record in the east this 2007.

Drixlazar: Yeah, their GM worked his ass off.

Question number 5: Who/what team/player disappointed you the most this season?

Drixlazar: Joseph Yeo, asan na sya? I mean, he's suppossedly the star of the tigers but he's in wtf land??

Chrisangelo: The New York Knicks, They have all the tools to enter the playoffs or atleast crack into the number 7or 8 not to mention they're also playing in the leastern conference.

Question number 6: Who will be the first overall pick of the 2007 pba draft?

Chrisangelo: Ken Bono, I've heard that he would not play this year for Adamson anymore so off to the pros he goes. He's a bigman with unlimited range who can power it inside, He's a reliable scorer and for a fat guy he moves faster and smoother than expected.

Drixlazar: JC Intal, Intal is the perfect poster guy for the pba next season because he has tremendous athleticism and scoring. although he still sucks outside the free throw line, he'll give those sucky teams with less than stellar scorers additional options to not suck during games!

Question number 7: Your pick for the MVP and ROY this season?

Drixlazar: For the nba. my rookie pick is Brandon Roy. Bot just because his surname spells r-o-y. but the rookie class now did not make an impact.

My MVP is Dirk Nowitzki. I want Steve Nash but the critics won't give him the mvp plum because he's too "not superstar" enough to have that record

Chrisangelo: I could've easily picked Walter Hermann in the ROY race if he played 75 percent of their games, He's averaging 21 agame in the past month. But no, Brandon Roy is my pick to win the ROY this year. He's leading all rookies in scoring and is one of the main reasons why the trail blazers didnt totally suck this year. maybe semi sucked but atleast they're better.

MVP? It could've been Kobe's turn to win it if his team didnt suck. So hands down Dirk Nowitzki. there would be no 3-peat mvp for steve-o

Drixlazar: Anyway... my pba picks are arwind santos and gary david. For some time now, kelly has somewhat stopped being a highlight. maybe a case of coaching change? but arwind's was good in the Philcup and he's better in the Fiesta Cup. la's game went blank after smb's woeful stint. i'm looking forward for this arwind - kelly matchup.

David though has been playing consistent b-ball and with the uninspired play of yap, and the unsureness of a second mvp to miller, i guess i'm going to pick mr. pure energy.

Chrisangelo: I think the hype and his flashiness would favor K-Will in the ROY race this year. As for the MVP race, Mr Pure Energy will win it. *Sings hataw na* But seriously, you've said it yourself Gary has been a consistent 20 point guy who nails timely shots at crunchtime.

Question number 8: I You're drunk, in some bar, and then may nakuha kang babae na babastusin mo na gf/asawa/dating asawa pala ng isang PBA/UAAP player... who and why?? (Sorry ladies :P)

Chrisangelo: CHESKA GARCIA!!! HOTNESS PERSONIFIED

Drixlazar: Hmmm.. KYLA. :D

Question number 8: Your team to beat next UAAP and NCAA season?

Drixlazar: UST because i'm biased! and BEDA because they are intact. low-tech NCAA teams will hardly be competition for ekwe and aljamal.

Chrisangelo: People would actually think Im crazy but Im rooting for the NU Bulldogs to steal one next conference. Should Jonathan Fernandez continue his shooting stint he had in the PBL last season, especially on the finals and should Edwin Asoro continue his versatile play, I think they have the slightest chance to win it. In the NCAA, Mapua looks promising. will kelvin dela pena play this year?

Question number 9: should we expect a rebirth from the celtics in the near future?

Chrisangelo: Uh yeah, They've got a whole new kids to build their team upon. Al Jefferson has been fantastic, Sebastian Telfair maybe and Delonte freaking West too.

Drixlazar: Nope. ainge is doing the same thing as red was doing during the early celts days, before bill russell came in, the celts were losers they used their pick to uncover heinsohn then traded their pick for russell and they got cousy from the free agent pool. Now either they're targetting on durant, oden, or noah

Chrisangelo: Woah, You really are a walking basketball encyclopedia

Drixlazar: What?!? No! Tabloid :D

Chrisangelo: Ok ok, The walking basketball tabloid

Question number 10: The most obvious question a 2-man q and a forum could ever have, Who's your bet to win the NBA/PBA finals.

Drixlazar: Phoenix Suns, I think this is their time. Nash could win the title after he lose the MVP race.

Chrisangelo: The Mavs, No question about it, they are indeed the most dominating team in the regualar season. They have a coach that speaks like he's from snow white and the seven dwarfs but he's damn sure amazing and they have a 7 footer who looks like the baywatch guy who can shoot from the outside, get to the foul line and post up. Plus I think they're frustrated in a good way, They have the best chance to win it all last year but they choked.

Drixlazar: For the PBA, Red Bull. I want a Barako finals because they are like the ultimate pacute with rico, larry, paolo, and rich pero they turn contrabidas when junthy the hitman comes in. any team could have a ballgame when they play red bull, but red bull will win - thus disappointing all the people on earth

Chrisangelo: If Rudy Hatfield returns (which I think he will not) I expect a grandslam for the kings. but if he wont, Air 21 will take it. Like what I've said in this is their golden chance to win it all. Aslong as they would get more consistency from Canaleta and Mark Telan

Drixlazar: Ztrain could kill you with that remark.

Chrisangelo: Im a big Ginebra fan too dude pero nalalabuan ako.
